Basic Program Chair / Program Manager

In addition to teaching in the University of Chicago Basic Program of Liberal Education for Adults since 1993, between 1996 and 1999 I served as the elected Chair / Program Manager of the program, responsible for operations, program development, staff development, marketing, student relations and community relations.

In addition to carrying out the ordinary functions of the position, I also organized the program’s 50th anniversary year, augmenting celebrations with a year-long strategic review and planning effort that produced mission and vision statements, curriculum revisions, new programming and organizational initiatives.  These in turn led to a number of collaborations and strategic partnerships with complementary organizations as well as a successful fund-raising campaign and increased course offerings, enrollment, revenue and profit.
